let's get swept away...

Meet Caity

Oh hey -

I’m Caity

I get dressed up and stand in the forest waiting for someone to take my photo.

It’s true. Photographers make people do silly things.

But I am super lucky do call something I love so much ‘work’. I can promise you will be in capable hands. And in fact, you might even have fun!

It took a few years of travelling and trying to choose my path, before my path chose me. I studied Photojournalism in Victoria at Western Academy of Photography and graduated in 2010. Since then I have photographed a Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, traveled to Mexico for weddings twice, been featured in Green Wedding Shoes, Rocky Mountain Bride, and have captured the love stories of over 100 couples.

Recently my family and I moved to the Pacific Northwest.

While I am now based in Kitimat, BC, I am currently booking weddings and other sessions all over the province and beyond. I would love to hear from you regardless of your location - I love to travel! In recent times I’ve found myself heavily drawn towards intimate, small-ish, generally outdoor weddings.

I’m laid back in my approach to photography (and life), but on the day I will hustle and get my bossy on to make sure you get all the goods. All the while, sneaking you away from the chaos for tender moments with your new spouse. This day goes SO friggin fast and I will do everything in my power to make sure you get a moment to enjoy it!

So you wanna know more about me...

Becoming a Mum is challenging and at the same time, the most wonderful journey I've ever embarked on! My little mister, Cullen, is now four and we welcomed a little gal named Neelah a year ago! I don’t share a lot of photos of them on my social media because that’s what their dad and I decided, but know that if we hang out you will hear about them lots. Cullen loves to take things apart with his tools, loves reading books and playing Lego and going to the library. He’s big into boats and tractors. Neelah is still figuring herself out. She has the best curly mop of hair and loves to say ‘uh oh’ and recently has discovered a love of chanterelle mushrooms. She is good at hugs and giving pats on the back and it’s adorable.

If you aren’t in to talking about kids, that’s cool. Maybe we can talk about dogs. I have one of those. Kevin is a mini australian shepherd, he is four and quite hilarious. He smiles when he greets friends he hasn’t seen in a while, likes to roll in smelly things sometimes, and likes to chase crows out of our yard. Cullen affectionately calls him “my buddy.”

I love to travel, warm hugs, and giant mugs of tea. I love LOVE fishing! Green is the most magnificent colour. I played rugby for 10 years - my body is still paying for it, but I miss it still. My family is amazing, and can turn anything into a drinking game (quite literally, ask me about it). I am happiest next to the ocean. My favorite pair of shoes are my yellow wellies. Addicted to tomatoes, sushi, and humus, but not all together.

Lepas Bay is the most beautiful place in the world, google that shit, then hire me to photograph your trip there. My favorite animal is the manatee, I’ve never seen one but the cows of the sea speak to me I guess, ha ha. I dream of driving a VW Van across Canada, a dream that complicates itself the more our family multiplies (two adults, a dog, and a two toddlers). I would choose thunder and lightning over 30 degree weather. Paul Simon always makes me smile and a gingersnap will always be the perfect dessert!
